CHAIRPERSONS REPORT
December 2023

Dear Members,
Welcome to Fleurieu FM’s ‘relaunched’ newsletter and thank you to Lynne Keane who has taken on the role of editor. From now on, the newsletter will be a quarterly issue sent to our members.
Connecting more closely with our membership base was a promise I made upon my election as
Chairman at the recent AGM and the newsletter will hopefully go some way towards demonstrating
that. I also hope to see you in person at our year-end barbeque on Saturday 16th December.
How 2023 has flown by! It is hard to believe that your new Board of Management has been
managing the affairs of the station for nearly 3 months already.
We received a $20K grant from Bendigo Bank which will be used towards the urgent replacement of our transmission tower on Brown’s Hill near Port Elliott. This tower is now in a decrepit state after
many years of service. Our sincere thanks go to Bendigo Bank for their generous support. You will soon see some changes at the station in the form of us acknowledging them as a proud sponsor of Fleurieu FM. Before we can have a new transmission tower in operation, we still need to raise money for its transport to, and erection on, what is a rather remotely located site.
To portray our brand more tangibly, outside broadcasts have been happening thick and
fast; a total of 4 in just the 3 months of October to December: Port Elliott Show, Victor Harbor
Rock and Roll Festival, Bendigo Bank Ambassador Event in Willunga, and the upcoming Normanville New Year’s Eve Pageant. To be able to continue doing outside broadcasts we need presenters (and helpers) to volunteer for these tasks, so please continue assisting.
Dale has successfully negotiated a strategic partnership with the Fleurieu Sun in the form of a contra arrangement where they will include our FFM advert weekly in the Fleurieu Sun while from our side, we will be running a promotional message for them during our programs. This will further lift our profile among the community.
New presenter Cristina Indelicato has undergone training and is now presenting her
program. We do remain short on presenters though, so please tell anyone you know who could be a potential presenter with us about what a great thing this is to do. I’d also like to welcome Martin Francis who is looking after our website, and social media strategy and, will be a backup for Phil Davis in production.
During November we had a visit to the station by two representatives from CBF (Community
Broadcasting Foundation). They commented about how well the studios have been set up and the equipment maintained with full credit given to Jim Bickers for looking after this.

Life does have its twists and turns and sadly, we’ve had to say farewell to one of our beloved
presenters Archie Mombassa (Alan Edmond) who passed away recently. We are all missing Archie. Our members are the heart and soul of FFM and therefore, thank you very much for all you have contributed to FFM during 2023. I wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and a great 2024.
