Jimmy Barns & Cold Chisel
Their first self-titled debut album, released in 1978, did not initially achieve significant success. However, the breakthrough came with their third album, "East" (1980), which featured hits like "Choirgirl" and "Cheap Wine." The album's success helped the band establish a strong fan base. Cold Chisel has maintained a strong fan base over the years, and their music continues to be celebrated in Australia. The band's dynamic sound and poignant lyrics have solidified their place in Australian rock history. One of my favourite songs and everyone else I guess. I thought I would write this during the singer Jimmy Barns's recent life-saving surgery.
Album: Circus Animals "When the War is Over"
It is a song by the Australian rock band Cold Chisel. It was written by the band's keyboardist Don Walker and was released as a single in 1982 from their album "Circus Animals." The song is one of Cold Chisel's most iconic and enduring tracks.
"When the War is Over" is a poignant ballad that addresses themes of love, loss, and the aftermath of conflict. The lyrics convey a sense of reflection and hope, suggesting that there is a possibility for healing and renewal once the struggles are over. The metaphorical use of "war" in the song's title and lyrics allows for a broader interpretation, making it relevant to various personal and societal challenges.
